The walking app for people who mean it
Walking is a sport. Train it like one.
Durma turns every walk into a workout: live cadence, Japanese interval walking and your own programs, walking tests, challenges with friends, and streaks that keep you going without punishing a day off. For iPhone, Apple Watch, Android and Wear OS.
The science of walking faster
Walked at the right pace and with a bit of structure, walking builds fitness you can measure. These numbers come from published research; the guides list every source.
- 100 spm
100 steps per minute is the threshold for moderate-intensity walking in adults aged 21 to 60. Around 130 steps a minute is vigorous.
Brisk walking guide - 8–16%
Gains in aerobic capacity across three studies of Japanese interval walking. The method is simple: three minutes fast, three minutes easy.
Japanese walking guide - 7,000 steps
Linked to a 47% lower risk of death compared with 2,000 steps a day. And every extra 1,000 steps counts.
Steps per day guide
Everything you need to walk like you train
Built natively for each platform, in its own design language. Your walks record on the device, with or without a connection.
Brisk walking with live cadence
See your steps per minute as you walk and know at a glance whether you are in the light, moderate or vigorous zone. Hold a target cadence with the metronome and haptic ticks, and Durma tells you to speed up when you drop below it.
Japanese interval walking, ready to go
Three minutes fast, three minutes easy, five repeats. Beginner and extended versions and 20- and 45-minute brisk walks come as built-in programs.
Build your own programs
A warm-up, a block of up to 10 fast and easy segments, repeats and a cool-down, with a target cadence for each segment. On iPhone, send a program to the Workout app on Apple Watch.
Every kind of walk
Free, brisk and interval walks, Nordic walks, rucks with your carried load, treadmill walks with incline and a calibrated step length, and race walks. Energy is estimated for each type.
Walking tests
The 6-minute walk test asks its safety questions first, guides you minute by minute and compares your distance with the predicted value. The Rockport test estimates your VO2max from a one-mile walk.
Voice coach and metronome
Splits every kilometre or mile, interval cues and a halfway call. Your music ducks while Durma speaks and comes back after, so you can walk without looking at the screen.
Forgiving streaks
A day counts when you reach your step goal or walk 15 brisk minutes. Every seven active days earn a streak freeze, so one missed day doesn’t break your streak.
Badges
Twenty badges, from your first walk to 500 km in total, from a 7-day streak to a 100-day one, from your first test to your interval weeks. Each one shows how close you are.
Small, private challenges
Create a challenge, share the invite link or the 6-character invite code, and compare steps, brisk minutes or distance with up to 20 people. No public leaderboard.
Apple Watch and Wear OS
Start a walk from your wrist and see your heart-rate zone, interval blocks and target cadence as you go. Complications and tiles keep today’s goal in view.
Widgets and Live Activities
Your walk live in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, Live Updates on Android, and a one-tap start from widgets, Control Center, the Quick Settings tile and Siri.
Weekly summary
Every Monday, last week’s brisk minutes, walks and steps. On phones that support it, the on-device model writes the summary, so your numbers never leave your phone.
